Dengue takes the life of a Health Officer at Kalubowila few hours after child birth
The news of a death of a assistant health employee of the Kalubowila Teaching hospital has been reported on the 17th instant.
A few weeks before her child birth she and her husband had both acquired dengue fever and were treated at the Kalubowila Teaching hospital.The female assistant health employee had been subjected
to a cesarean operation on the advise of the doctors.
The doctors had been able to deliver her first baby.But unfortunately her blood count has been lowered to very low levels and had met with a very unfortunate death.
The dead woman is 29 year old Deepika Kumari Herath a resident of Jayanthipura plane 2, Polonnaruwa.It is reported that the new born baby is in good health.However the husband is still treated for dengue in the Kalubowila Teaching hospital.
It is reported that a few months ago a nurse had succumbed to dengue, while around 30 had suffered with dengue in recent times.
