President disturbed over Divaina news item: "A foreign War Crimes Court in another 9 months'
Because of a leading caption published in the Divaina Newspaper yesterday (10) Sunday which had focused special attention in it, the President Maithripala Sirisena has been disturbed and he had made a special explanation about it at a meeting held today in Peradeniya. What is said
in that news item is that in another 9 month's period a Hybrid Court would be established in Sri Lanka. That description published by writer Keerthi Warnakulasooriya is as follows:
'Human Rights Commissioner Seid Rad Hussain has given a 9 month period to Sri Lanka to initiate proceedings of the Hybrid Courts comprising international judges to investigate into allegations over war crimes. It has been revealed that strong pressure has been exerted on the Human Rights Commissioner to institute a Hybrid Court in this country by the six international judges directed by an external element known as Eelam State. During this 9 month period a complete report is expected to be forwarded to the Human Rights Conference in March 2017 by the Human Rights Commissioner who would be reviewing how the Hybrid Court would be established in Sri Lanka during the said 9 months and how its proceedings would take place.
In the process, higher sources have said that Sri Lanka has decided to initiate activities of Hybrid Courts in February 2017. However, prior to that the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission would be installed in the month of September. This Commission is equipped with powers of pardoning and granting amnesty as well'.
