Deputy Minister Thevrapperuma recovering fast after bypass surgery
The other day after the drama that prevailed in regard to the intake of nine primary school students to the Meegahatenna primary school the deputy minister Palitha Thervarapperuma in which he had
even attempted to commit suicide. But at the end when he had won the intake of students issue he had celebrated by carrying some students. During this process he had collapsed to the ground.
After admission to the Nagoda general hospital it had been the opinion of many that the deputy minister may have collapsed owing to the stress he had been forced to undergo during the period of the satyagraha phase .But on investigation it had revealed by the doctors that the cause for collapsing had been not owing to stress factors but owing to non function of some valves in his heart.
Subsequently he had been transferred to the Navaloka private hospital where the doctors had confirmed his condition as that of a heart condition and a bypass operation was recommended which had to be performed immediately.
But when he had come to know that the mothers of the children had been arrested he had forcibly escaped from the hospital and gone to the police station to see them against the doctor’s advice. What had happened then was that he too was arrested by the police irrespective of the fact he was a patient who was to undergo an urgent bypass surgery.
After he was released on bail he had again got admitted to the Navaloka private hospital to undergo a bypass surgery.The bypass surgery had been made on the 08th instant and it is reported that he is recovering fast.
The minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had claimed that the deputy minister Palitha Thervarapperuma need to be consulted by a psychiatrist to ascertain his mental condition.
