Those in the House had 'marketted' Gammanpila who took refuge in parliament building
What was at the root of the heated environment that prevailed last evening in parliament was the protest brought forward by some MPs headed by Dinesh Gunawardena saying that MP Udaya Gammanpila was jailed because of an instance of political revenge. To add to it, the situation became worse with a speech made by Minister
Sarath Fonseka justifying the revenge which speech incidentally was instigated by Premier Ranil.

Udaya Gammanpila is currently under remand custody relating to an act of monetary fraud committed to an Australian national. Incidentally when the aforesaid debate was taking place Udaya Gammanpila who was though within the parliament premises had been hiding away by not accessing the House by providing support to his comrades to 'market' him giving the impression that he was imprisoned. The Prime Minister during his speech had questioned, "Isn't Mr. Udaya Gammanpila present in the House at this moment; so why do the others bring forward allegations like this saying that he's deprived of fundamental rights?" nobody came forward to escort him there. However, it was reported that he had come inside the House in parliament at about 3.45 in the afternoon and had once more left the place after a short while. He had come to the parliament last afternoon in a prison bus. The video of the moment when the heated situation arose, from below
