Thondaman and 8 Members of Parliament from joint opposition to government
It is reliably reported that the Members of Parliament of the Ceylon Workers Congress are to join the Yahapalana government next week. The Member of
Parliament Arumugam Thondaman is to be given a cabinet ministerial portfolio and Member of Parliament Muththu Sivalingam is to be given a deputy ministerial portfolio.
It is reported from the government sources that eight members of the joint opposition who were loyalists in the Mahinda Rajapaksa government have had talks in order to join the Yahapalana government.
It is learned that eight such Members of Parliament have consented to join the Yahapalana government and in this connection they are to have discussions with the President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe next week.
