The punishment for a female student by the teacher for drawing a line on her colleague’s hand too harsh

A female student in year 10 class in a school in Kandalama, Dambulla had been punished harshly by the teacher when she had ordered the students in her class to write “Modi” in Sinhalese all over her body. As a result of this embarrassing punishment the parents of this student had been forced to
remove her from the school and admit her to another school.

It is threatened and was sadly reported that in the event because of this punishment the school is subjected to humiliation the magnitude of the punishment would be harsher.

The student in the 10th year class had just drawn a line on a colleague’s hand. The punishment meted out by the class teacher was all the 30 students in her class to write the word “Modi” all over her body. When she went home she had related the story to her parents which had bewildered them.

The significant feature in this case has been as this student’s mother is herself a teacher. After the incident the student had refused to go to school. The parents rightly had gone and met the Principal of the school and got the student removed from that school.
It is also reported that the school authorities have attempted this information leaking out to media personnel.
