Garbage in Colombo to be dumped in bags of different colours

The officers of the health services department of the western provincial council have revealed that the spreading of dengue fever has been attributed to the accumulation of garbage.

In this regard they have taken a decision to make the residents in the Colombo district to identify the new garbage bags that are provided in four different colours to dump different types of garbage.

This decision had been taken with the approval of the ministry of health services. Accordingly the

bags in colours of brown, orange, blue and yellow have been introduced.

Brown- for coconut shelves
Orange-Plastic
Blue-Newspaper and other papers
Yellow- Polethene  and metal
