Retaliation by Police when shots were fired at the Prison bus at Dematagoda fake
When the suspect in the Bharatha Lakhsman Premachandra murder case Dematagoda Chaminda was taken back in a prison bus were fired at when police protection with arms had been given.It is reported that despite the police protection given the police had failed to retaliate taking protective
measures.
It is reported via prison sources that if the police took preventive steps to retaliate when the gunmen arrived the culprits could have been brought to book by cordoning them.
It is said that after firing the gunmen had escaped in a motor vehicle and a motor bike. If they retaliated by firing with the guns provided the gunmen could have been caught was the view of the prison authorities.
However a prison officer had opened 12 rounds of fire at the gunmen when they were fleeing. The prison officer is of the opinion that at least one shot would have injured one person, This prison officer had explained this incident in this manner to the higher authorities.
At the time of the shooting Dematagoda Chaminda's brother and 13 other suspects were to be brought to courts in another prison bus for a case involved in the Bloemendhal shooting. When this incident was reported these suspects including Dematagoda Chaminda's brother had been delayed at the court premises until more security was arranged before they were brought safely to the prison in another route.
