Commotion at media briefing in GMOA after a name of a doctor ....

was revealed as connected to the kidney scam

When a press reporter questioned the name of a doctor connected to the massive kidney scam
after it was exposed by the media a few days back, during the course of a media briefing with the Government Medical Officers' Association, a heated situation had flared up.

Though reports were published in newspapers recently under the caption that 6 Sri Lankan doctors are connected to this racket, their names were not revealed and the Ministry of Health has announced that an enquiry is underway about them by a committee appointed. When matters stood at that level, the Government Medical Officers' Association had yesterday called a media confrontation and had said that the government and Ministry of Health should undertake full responsibility and that in case somebody from their Association is connected to it, they would be taking disciplinary action.

In that instance a reporter put forward a question to media spokesman Dr. Navin de Soysa about a person called Amarasingha Aarachchige Don Manik Tervin Sanjeewa. This reporter queried as to whether he is a member of the said Association and as to what connection he has with the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Padeniya. Whatever it is, the question was asked without quoting the identity of the person who was allegedly connected to this racket. On that occasion Dr. Navin de Soysa who expressed his ideas in anger had set aside answering the question posed at him and instead went on to say that the reporter was minus his ethics.

The point of suspicion that emerges when observing that confrontation is that the Medical Officers' Association too is involved in some way in this scam. The video of the said confrontation, from below
