Person who attempted suicide by jumping in front of train in Panadura ....

An incident is reported of a person who came to a railway track in Panadura yesterday (29) around 11.52 in the morning and had tried to

jump in front of a moving train on that track but had avoided it at the last moment.

When the train had approached him head on, he had kept looking at this train standing motionless and even though certain people in the area had shouted out asking him to get way from there, he had not given ear to them. Since the train was approaching at somewhat of a slow speed the train driver on seeing this incident had applied brakes and when the train had closed up on the person concerned he had abruptly jumped aside from the railway track. Anyhow the train driver too had stopped the train that moment.

It was later understood that this person who had attempted suicide was in a drunk state. Mr. Damith Kotelawala who was residing close to the scene of the incident forwarded us the footage of the CCTV camera relating what happened. The scene of the footage, from below
