A group of people who came in a Defender vehicle around 2.30 last afternoon had abducted a youth from Dematagoda area and upon a clue received about its number plate and when investigations

were carried out, what was reported to police was that the vehicle concerned in fact belonged to MP Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra.

When the police inquired about this from Hirunika, what she had said was that a group of supporters under her had got involved in this incident without her notice. As soon as news spread around that she had said that they would be produced before the police, what was reported in the evening was that this abducted person had come to police. The police also mentioned that as this youth concerned had sustained injuries, steps were taken to admit him to hospital.

Under what reasons this abduction and assault had taken place has still not been revealed. Whatever it is, according to what Hirunika informed, the aforementioned group of persons had not reported to police even by last night.
