Government to take a decision to stop house maids going to Saudi

The Minister of Foreign employment Thalatha Atukorale had quipped the a discussion is to be held between her and the President and the Prime Minister to decide whether to stop house maids in

going in search of jobs to Saudi Arabia.

There have been many issues that had propped up in regard to house maids who had gone for employment to Saudi Arabia and hence a decision would be taken whether to allow them to go for employment or to stop them.

In this regard the government intends to absorb men and women for other jobs in the country instead of allowing them to go to Saudi Arabia.

The Minister Thalatha Atukorale had focussed attention on the death penalty imposed on the under age Rizana and also the house maid from Maradana who is to stoned to death for punishments.In this context she is of the opinion that one has to think twice allowing women to go as house maids to Saudi Arabia.

She had also reiterated that according to the laws that exist in Middle East countries we cannot request them to change the laws and in this context she needs to discuss this issue with President, Prime Minister and other intellectuals to bring about a solution to this matter of great concern and to do justice to those who are trying to go to Saudi Arabia..
