Details of people buried and ashes interred at Borella Kanatte to a data base and internet

It has been decided to bring all details of bodies buried and ashes interred at the Borella Kanatte

 to on to a data base and to the internet with an effort to protect them from goons. In this regard there are 48,000  thousand dead peoples monuments are to be protected.

In the meantime the Borella Kanatte is to be upgraded to the status of a national cemetery. This was stated by the Chief Medical Office of the Colombo Municipal Council Ruwan Wijayamuni.

It is learnt that after the year 1867 such a update is to be made of the dead people ,the Chief Medical Officer had added.

It is reported that for the relatives of the deceased persons plots 2' by 2' are been sold to them for the ashes of their relatives to be interred. For these plots to be sold separate deeds are also issued. In his manner the relatives could obtain details of the deceased kith and kin interred at Borella Kanate could be found via the internet once the details are computerised.

It has been disclosed that certain unscrupulous elements at the Colombo Municipal council through a racket have been issuing deeds with commercial value to relatives of deceased persons.This racket by this process would be avoided by this new process it is revealed.
