Rithu Akarsha who these days is involved in
acting in several mega teledramas had to face an accident during early hours of the morning yesterday when returning after taking part in shooting and the mishap had occured along Parliament Road, Kotte.

Not being able to control the speed of the vehicle that she was driving the vehicle had travelled across the main gate of access to Parliament Road causing damage to some security cones. Though she had sustained no injuries in the process, the vehicle had been damaged. Rithu told police that when she was returning after dropping a female friend of hers after taking part in a shooting stint that she faced this accident. She also admitted that she was not able to bring the speed of the vehicle under her control and as a consequence it had crashed across the main road barrier accessing the Jayanthipura main gate and had sped a distance of about 30 meters.

Talangama Police recorded a statement from her under the offences of not being able to prevent an accident and causing harm to government property and the vehicle was taken into custody by the police while action was taken to summon a motor vehicle examiner to inspect the brakes of the vehicle.

Rithu Akarsha was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court today and the Kaduwela Magistrate had released her on a bail of Rs. 1 lakh, it was reported. The police had revealed in courts that the teledrama actress had driven the vehicle at high speed. In the meantime, on the occasion of this incident the said actress had spoken to a young Cabinet Minister over her mobile phone informing him of the mishap asking as to the action that she should take and the Minister had then engaged in a conversation with Talangama Police regarding the accident, it is reported.
