It is the responsibility of everybody who loves Sri Lanka to create an environment for foreigners who come on tour here after seeing relevant details through various media and thus develop a desire to see the beauty here to welcome them honourably and to create an environment favourable to them.
However, as a result of rape cases and murders that took place during the past making it a fearsome thing to tour this island, still the secure attitude of moving around the island has not been dispelled. Because of yet another incident where an unpleasant incident of a similar nature had taken place when a certain person had attempted to sexually harass a Japanese lady who was touring the holy land of Anuradhapura last week has further added another blemish.
This particular Japanese lady of beauty aged 42 years had been lodging for about a week at a tourist hotel situated along a road close to the North-central Provincial Council in Anuradhapura and she had wanted to purchase some personal things necessary for her and had been trekking towards a supermarket around 9 in the night some days back. After buying the stuff she had been walking back to her abode along this lonely road when all of a sudden a three-wheeler had just passed her and stopped obstructing her journey any further. The young man from the three-wheeler had subsequently run over to her and tried to kiss her saying, "kiss me" and she had then pushed him aside with much effort and had darted to her hotel, it was reported.
The tourist who hailed from Tokyo, Japan and says had made a trip to Sri Lanka had been struck with shock . She had the following day morning gone to the police and explained her predicament. What she said was that though she was able to remember the number of the three-wheeler, she was unable to remember the two English letters on the number-plate. Police are these days making a search to nab the suspect across the clues given. The victim in fact has arrived here with the purpose of compiling a historical research dissertation and to make a study on Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka having read about the charm of this country and nevertheless charmed by the ancient heritage here as well. But as a consequence of this incident she had said that she was disappointed about Sri Lanka and that since she also feels that living here proves to be dangerous, therefore is preparing to pack and go back home.
