A lady who had served as an Accounts Clerk at a popular beauty salon of Beautician Champi

Siriwardena in Rajagiriya area operated under the name 'Manaliyange Mahagedera' has been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday over an incident of a fraud amounting to Rs. one crore and fifty-nine lakhs and three hundred and sixty.

Champi has lodged a complaint with the police last July 24th over this financial fraud and after the investigation carried out regarding the fraud the Crime officers were able to accost yet another female whom the said suspect had arranged to hide, police said. The suspect, N.R. Sandya aged 51 years had been the Accounts Clerk of this institution which hired vehicles for wedding activities and had been dressing brides and the suspect had been in employment there for a period of 2 years, It has been revealed at investigations that she had got together with another female and deposited the monies received by the institution in a strategical manner in a different acccount for a period of time and thus engaged in this fraud.

The two suspects are expected to be produced at Court 02 in Aluthkade, Colombo. The Criminal Investigation Department conducts further inquiries.
