Wasantha Lakshman not allowed bail, remanded until 06th

The former Member of Parliament Wasantha Lakshman Perera who was wanted by the police

for the offence of causing hurt through assault to a political opponent had surrendered to the Matale police this morning.After the said incident four of his political supporters were arrested by the police for found guilty of the offence.

The former parliamentarian was produced before the the Matale Magistrate. His application for bail submitted by his lawyers was turned down by the Magistrate of the Matale courts.

However instead the Magistrate had ordered Wasantha Lakshman Perera be remanded until the 06th of this month.The political opponent had been assaulted and abducted by his four supporters who are now in remand.
