WAS SNAPPED UP BY CROCODILE
A young man was snapped up by a crocodile yesterday near the Devala Ford in Kataragama
Menik Ganga, but there was hardly anybody who could rescue his life. However, Kataragama Police and people in the area were able to recover his dead body after an operation of a rescue for a period of 3 hours.

This young man was preyed upon by the crocodile near the water-cutting shore of Kataragama Devala. On this occasion several people who had been bathing in the river had witnessed this incident. Later after diving for about 1 hour another youth was able to get hold of the corpse of the victim. Because of this incident, the Kataragama Devala was closed for about an hour and after the corpse was taken out, it was reported that the Kataragama Maha Devala was sprinkled with sandalwood, milk and water and was subsequently opened.
