UNP lodges complaint to Police on mudslinging web sites
The related authorities of the United National Party had lodged a complaint at the Mirihana Police station to apprehend the owners of
web sites who are in hiding and sling mud at the party to tarnish their image.
Although the new government had given the media freedom there certain fictitious media personnel make use of certain web sites to sling mud at the United National party. In these websites they have even mentioned names of Ministers of the United National party and had published hoax stories about them tarnishing their characters. These defamatory news items have been made by unscrupulous groups it is reported.
It is learnt that some of these web sites and Face Book accounts have been already identified. What the UNP authorities had quoted in the complaint that reasonable criticism would be welcome but those who sling mud should be brought to book and punished taking appropriate legal steps.
