To make MP’s happy, Ministerial posts very pertinent - Welgama

Welgama while speaking yesterday  the 11th instant in Kalutara had said leaving alone the present ‘good governance’ government, in any government for that matter any Member of Parliament would be very contented upon receiving an ministerial portfolio or a deputy ministerial portfolio. They are all craving to receive sch portfolios.

Hence he was in the opinion that in order for any government persist and for the Members of Parliament to be kept intact offering ministerial, deputy ministerial and state ministerial portfolios to Members of Parliament is essential to keep any government in its  good stride. Otherwise according to him no Member of Parliament would like to remain in the parliament.

He had added that all Members of Parliament are hoping to receive such a portfolio and as such there are no Members in Parliament who do not wish to remain sans such portfolios.

Member of Parliament Kumara Welgama had confessed that the present government is offering deputy ministerial portfolios to get political advantage. He is one Member of Parliament who would never accept such a deputy ministerial portfolio for government to obtain political mileage. This he had said is saying with his clear conscience.

He also had added that the former President J.R.Jayewardena had offered duty free cars to Members of Parliament also with the intention to make all of them happy.

He had added further that the present Members of Parliament expects to get ministerial portfolios no sooner they enter parliament. However the Member of Parliament had added that he was offered a ministerial portfolio only after completing six years in parliament as just a Member of Parliament.
