To appoint Ranil as Prime Minister I have not promised - President

of Members of Parliament of the United Peoples’ Freedom Party on the 09th instant had categorically stated that he had not promised to make Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister after the next general election.

This was his reply to a question posed to him by the Members of Parliament of the UPFA at this meeting.

He also had emphasised that he had not agreed for helping the United National Party to come into power at the forthcoming general election. In the event the UPFA wins and forms a government a few ministerial positions would be given to the UNP,he had quipped.
