DV  Upul had been arrested not for the reason of threatening the police

On the 2nd instant at a public SLFP rally in Tissamaharamaya DV Upul the Member of the

provincial council of southern province while speaking had threatened the police officers at the financial frauds investigations unit by saying that from top to bottom he would stone them to death. That is under a future Mahinda Rajapaksa government for harassing the former president.

He had been summoned to the criminal investigation unit on the 08th instant for questioning has been not for that offence but also as he had possessed an irregular passport. The CID after questioning had arrested him and produced to the Chief Magistrate courts where the additional Chief Magistrate Nirosha Fernando had ordered him to be remanded until the 10th instant. Hence he had not been arrested for the reason of threatening the police officers but for the irregular passport he had possessed. His passport had been ordered to be impounded.
