From year 2016 the maximum students in Grade 1 should be 35 students

The officials of the Ministry of education has

decided as per instructions of the Supreme Court made in the year 2007 that from the year 2016 the maximum number of students that could be accommodated in a Grade 1 class should be only 35 students.

However hitherto the maximum number of students in a class room in Grade 1 is 40 students as at date.This was disclosed by the Supreme Courts when the case number 289/2007 was heard. Accordingly the maximum number of students that could be accommodated in Grade 1should not exceed 35 from the year 2016.This decision has been taken by the ministry of education.

The view of reputed educationalists and child psychiatrists is that the number of students in a class should be limited to only 35 students.However it is learnt that at present there are students ranging from 45- 50 in certain class rooms which is harmful to the students as well as for the teachers. This is a very unhealthy situation the authorities have disclosed.
