The work on the stretch between India and Sri Lanka to expedite
During the recent visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
to Sri Lanka the proposal made to build a link for travelling between the passage of 23 kilometres has been expedited and work is almost under way. This has been reported by the Indian media.
The stretch is from India’s Rameshwaran Danushkodi to Sri Lanka’s Talaimannar.The Minister of Highways, India Nithin Gadkar has added that plans have been drawn to build a road and an application for a loan to the proposed road has been submitted to the World Bank for approval.
The expenses to be incurred for the construction of a railway and a road 23 kilometres in length has been estimated at Indian rupees 23000 million.
