Lady Engineer from Netherlands who comes to Sri Lanka ...
after 30 years in search of mother
A lady living in the Netherlands was successful in finding her true
mother in Singgakkuliya area in Dankotuwa in her motherland Sri Lanka after a lapse of 30 long years subsequent to a survey she conducted for a period of about a week.
Twin babies were born to a mother by the name of D. Nimalawathi from Dikwella area at District Hospital of Sandalankawa in the month of April 1985. As Nimalawathi was burdened with financial duties in bringing up the two children, both the children were given for adoption to a couple named Joseii and Hub who came to this country from the Netherlands about 2 months later. The young woman who once again came in search of her mother is one of these twins.
The two children named Chunkle and Joyce Van Bettle have had their education and had been brought up by the couple Joseii and Hub. Unfortunately Chuncle had met with an accident in that country and had passed away it is understood while 30 year old Joyce who has come to this island is supposed to be working as an Engineer in that country.
A collection of photographs accompanying information about her childhood has been given to Joyce. While she had been told that her true parents are in Sri Lanka and was also told that if she wishes, to go and meet them and afterwards to return to the Netherlands. Joyce had come over to Sri Lanka with the said photo album and the relevant documents in her possession and had managed to get the necessary information from the Pannala Provincial Secretariat and the District Hospital of Sandalankawa thus proceeding to locate her true mother. D. Nimalawathi who is now 59 years old found it a moment of meeting her daughter a scene of sheer sensitivity.
After meeting her true mother, the manner in which she enjoyed her happiness is to be seen in these photos.
