This attractive woman aged 30 with 2 children from Dikwella area had come to Bandarawela day-before-yesterday to meet this doctor on the pretext of taking medicine. However, after a short while the doctor had realised that she was trying to cling on to him unnecessarily. "My husband comes home rarely. Doctor ... you can come and meet me or doctor if you tell I can come to any place. Let's keep this as a secret between the two of us. I can come to Ella Hotel this evening", so saying she had solicited an illicit relationship which made the doctor develop a suspicious attitude over this behaviour. Therefore the doctor took steps to call her to the hospital office and subject her to a lengthy interrogation. Subsequently she had confessed that she had behaved in this manner for the sum of fifty thousand at the request of another. According to the information exposed, the the doctor then made a complaint to Bandarawela Police in the company of the suspect. It was then reported that it had been planned for her to call the doctor to Ella Hotel and the clique who directed the settings also to be present there and then to lodge a complaint to Wellawaya Police that he had engaged in rape.
Accordingly the police instructed this woman to speak to the contractors and behave in a manner that the set plan had worked out well. She had carried out the said instructions as given and the police stood in ambush close to Ella Hotel and were able to apprehend the contractors easily. The suspects who undertook this contract for a sum of Rupees 2 lakhs had initially promised a payment of Rs. 25000 and to launch the plan that morning had sent this woman to the doctor concerned.
What was revealed at preliminary police inquiries was that these people were residents of Matara, Dikwella area and that one of the suspects was a member of the underworld and was involved in a number of criminal activities as well. They had planned out this matter for a contract of 2 lakhs with the purpose of defaming the doctor and behind the contract it is suspected was another doctor who had been anticipating a promotion. Whatever it is, what the suspects have mentioned is that a certain inmate of Welikada Prison has handed over this contract to them.
