Cyclone strikes Moneragala

There had been heavy showers experienced in many parts of the

country today from morning. It is reported that the Moneragala town and the surrounding has been affected severely with rain and wind creating a cyclone situation. A number of shops and houses have been affected owing to this situation.

It has been reported that electricity posts have been uprooted causing power failures. There had been huge trees also uprooted causing heavy damages to the roads along the Badulla route.

The roof of the Badalkumbura rural hospital too has been damaged.
