Courts summons top officials of Attorney General’s and FCID to find why Basil was not granted bail

The former Minister of economic development Basil Rajapaksa
after he was interrogated by the Police financial crimes investigation division and produced before the Magistrate of  Kaduwela district courts he and three others were ordered to be remanded for alleged misappropriation of huge sums of funds from the ‘divineguma’  account. The former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has been admitted to the Merchant’s paying ward in the general hospital for treatment. On a few subsequent dates when the case was called up the Magistrate of Kaduwela district court had not allowed them bail citing the reason as there is no provision to allow bail for misusing public funds.

Challenging this order of not allowing bail three petitions had been filed in the Chief Magistrate courts, Fort. When this case was heard the Chief Magistrate Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena had ordered the respondents of this case the Attorney General and the Officer In Charge of the Police financial crimes investigation division to be present in courts on the 08th instant by serving summons when the case would be heard again.
