Reasons sought why toy pistol Mayor was not arrested during previous regime

The courts have questioned why the Mayor of

Hambanthota, Eraj Ravindra Fernando was not arrested by the police since March last year. It was in March last year that he had forced himself into the Police station Ambalanthota had forcibly abducted a suspect held in Police custody.

It was only the other day after a lapse of one year the Mayor Eraj Ravindra Fernando was arrested when he was returning from abroad at the BIA. The Magistrate had blamed the Police that it was a grave mistake for not arresting him as he was having political connections. The Police by this act had belittled the status of the Police. He had emphasised that any person guilty of an offence need to be brought to book despite his political affiliations.

When the case was taken up the suspect was ordered to be further remanded
