Keheliya to courts today for Rupavahini pipe deal
The former Minister of Media and news Keheliya Rambukwella has been summoned to the Fort
Colombo Magistrate courts today the 20th instant for the case in connection with purchase of 600 GI pipes at a cost of Rs 990,000/ of funds of the Sri Lanka state Rupavahini Corporation which had caused a total loss to the government.
In this connection a complaint had been lodged at the Bribery Corruption unit and had been investigated by the Colombo crime special investigation unit.
This transaction had taken place in the year 2014 before the presidential election. This purchase had been made haphazardly not for any use at the Rupavahini Corporation for a development programme of the Corporation.. As a result it had caused a loss of a sum of rupees nine hundred and ninety thousand to the Rupavahini Corporation.
The former Minister has been charged on four charges by the Bribery and Corruption investigation unit. There are 24 witnesses and 15 case articles are ready to be produced.
