Violent confrontation between students of DS and Mahanama sends 05 to hospital

The annual one day, 50 over school cricket fixture between Colombo D. S. Senanayake

College and Mahanama College was played at the SSC grounds in Mailtland Place today, the 22nd instant.

Just before play ended when D.S.S Senanayke College was cruising to victory the students of Mahanama College had invaded the playing area to prevent play as they could not taste  and digest defeat.The students of D.S.Senanayake had retaliated and had confronted the students of Mahanama College in mid field.The confrontation had become very violent with striking with poles which could not be settled by the intervention of the Police personnel deployed on the grounds on duty .The Police action force was summoned to bring the situation under control.But by the time several  students were injured and 05 students sustained injuries who needed to be treated were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital.Among those injured and rushed to hospital 03 were students of D.S Senanayake College and 02 were from Mahanama College.
