The police took into custody two brothers of the

same family on suspicion for having abused a girl aged 10 years and 7 months, living in Kuliyapitia, Walpitigama area. The two brothers concerned were 21 years old while his younger brother was 14 years.

The two brothers after coming to understand the period of time that a young girl in a neighbouring  house the family of whom they knew intimately was all alone in the house on the pretense of going there to play had for sometime been committing an offense on this girl saying, "here sister .... there's a new game .... but don't tell this to anybody. Let only the three of us do this"..

After a period of time on checking up about their daughter who happened to be in a sad mood, the girl exposed the 'secret game' to her parents. As such, the parents on complaining to the police, these two boys aged 21 and 14 years respectively, were taken into their custody. The 21 year old boy who was interrogated in this connection then said, "We download film clips on the phone. There are scenes like this in it. Therefore both I and my younger brother wanted to experiment and see. We didn't think that this will be such a serious thing!" Kuliyapitiya Addl. Magistrate Mr. Bandula Wijeysingha ordered that both of them be remanded till March 16th. It was decided that the 14 year old boy be directed to the Hettipola Galkanda Detention Camp from remand. Further inquiries are being conducted in this respect.
