Mahinda won't be given nominations President Maithree says in public

Certain factions of the public are these days involved in organising meetings at various places in
the island and collecting signatures from the public with the motive of making the Ex-President the next Premier. The present President and present Chairman of the Party Mr. Maithreepala Sirisena has expressed in public that Mahinda would not receive nominations from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, yesterday. This was mentioned at the dinner held yesterday at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. Upto now when the media inquired from juniors of that Party, it was published that there is no necessity to hasten about Mahinda receiving nominations and that the Party would decide about it in future; thus slipping away by giving such answers.

This dinner had been organised at the Foundation Institute premises yesterday in order to express gratitude to those who supported the Presidential Elections and this idea was expressed on that occasion. In the meantime it was understood that the Central Committee of the SLFP had arrived at a number of significant decisions and among those decisions was that the Party would give no approval to political meetings organised by other political Parties and that participation at such meetings was taboo.  In the same way, since public representatives of the Party expressing their personal views to the media could result in creating discord in the policies of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the Secretary of the Party Anura Priyadarshana Yapa issued an announcement saying that a decision was taken to refrain from releasing ideas to the media and acting on their own whims and fancies.
