Mahinda Rajapaksa from a separate Party as Prime Minister candidate from separate symbol
When the new board of authorities of the coalition was appointed in the weekend recently, Mahinda
Rajapaksa who faced obstacles from the SLFP as well as the Alliance , it was understood that the dream of Prime Minister could not be achieved. Therefore, political sources reveal that as an alternative activity, to build up a new Alliance in motion and that the former President would definitely contest as the Prime Minister candidate as the leader of the new Alliance.
Since a group of persons partial to the ex-President are already in the central executive committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, a plan had been prepared at the beginning to acquire power of the Party at some decisive moment. However, a majority of provincial council and national politicians partial to the ex-President by now had extended themselves to build up a new Alliance in a manner that everybody could get together, it is understood. Whatever it is, it is learned that the ex-President is to officially announce about this once a General Election is announced by the present government.
The Parties that have already decided to give support to the ex-President are the National Liberation Front, Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, New Democratic Left Front, Eelam People's Democratic Party and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya.
