Ajith Rohana who brings to memory interesting anecdotes transferred.
There was a lot of talk about Sri Lankan police media news in the past. What some people said was that reports of some police investigations
were woven stories. Suspicions as well as humour emerged among the public about incidents where criminals met with death when going in search of weapons and at the end of crime investigations it was reported that those acts were carried out by some drug-addicts or dealers or 'kangettas' where those crimes had some connection with many politicians. Opinions were expressed that on certain occasions various stories were woven up by politicians with the objective of covering up these incidents which were actually 'made up' particularly because of political power. However, it was this person who held the position of Police Media Spokesman who was expected to present them to the public. For the very same reason, while others who were disappointed after having been bestowed this post, Mr. Ajith Rohana was popular among everybody as the person who carried out this duty to his best. During the time he was involved in this duty he was called by the names of 'girawa' and 'redi apullanna' and there were even public protests against him.
Humorous illustrations about him at that time became popular and even adorned the Facebook.
However, information was received today that another has been appointed for that post saying that Mr. Rohana has left for Malaysia, Police Superintendent Mr. Ruwan Gunasekera has been permanently installed in that position.
Former Police Media Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Ajith Rohana has been attached to the position of Senior Police Superintendent of Colombo North Police Area, Ministry for Public Peace announces.
Though it is seen that he has been transferred without much notice, his interesting stories cannot be forgotten by us for sometime.
