The telephone incident which took place recently at Derana Vaada Pitiya political programme now has reached unexpected heights while Minister Mahindananda has said that he claims Rs. 500 million from Ranjan by filing a case of defamation.

It has now been confirmed that the person who spoke at about 11.31 in the night with an elderly voice under the name Matara Sunil has spoken by using the Dialog mobile phone of Mr. Ranjan Ramanayaka who expresses his views on this matter. He has admitted that the call was made from his number; but that it was not he who spoke.

Police investigations are being conducted  over this issue now and Ranjan says that people from all corners of the island visit his home. Some are political supporters .... some are fans ... and whether he does not know if someone like that had spoken to Derana and asked questions from his mobile phone.

Whatever it is, when inquiring about the incident, since the person who spoke by the name of Matara Sunil had spoken the truth,says Ranjan, he would willingly come forward and while though Minister Mahindananda tries to take action over this, it would be to no avail as the Minister's name was not mentioned in that call. True to his word, Matara Sunil does not mention anybody's name in that call.

Though the caller had said that he wished to speak to Minister Ramesh Pathirana who attended the Vaada Pitiya programme, what he said was that a 'loka horek' has come there and that if the President was searching for those whom he said he has files, this person is the biggest rogue. He further said that his (the Minister's) own wife had filed action against him and that the truth and falsity of the story appears on websites.

When a lengthy attack was going on in this manner, Minister Mahindananda who lost his temper having sensed from the second sentence of the call itself and that those who had connected the Derana phone-line for a period of 2 minutes had not disconnected the line even though his name was not mentioned with an allegation being aimed at him finally poked himself in the middle and started responding to the caller instead of parliamentarian Ramesh.

However, Matara Sunil who did not bother to reply the Minister for what was asked at that point said, "This person who is shouting is the biggest rogue" and went on with his accusation. When the Minister kept blaming Derana, Matara Sunil kept on talking. But everything what he said was not clear to everyone who was watching the TV.
