Bollywood stars do not know about us -- Ranjan

Popular actor Ranjan Ramanayaka who joined in the Hiru Golden Award Ceremony recently provided details to a newspaper of the questions asked by popular Hindi stars when he was seated with them and the answers he
gave. He said that although he mentioned his name, they had not known him while they had not known even Malini, Ravindra or Pooja.

* Is it because you wanted to show off your skills to Sunil Shetty and Anil Kapoor and the crowd that you thought of doing a 'bulty' (somersault) which is not seen even in rehearsals?

  Aney no .... that is a somersault which I used to do very well even at other times. In front of them I fell into sheer inconvenience than that .... because I was made to sit in between Bipasha and Anil Kapoor. Aiyyo .... these two began to ask me questions endlessly!

* What is it that they asked so much for you to feel so inconvenienced?
  No sooner I shook hands, do you know the question that Anil Kapoor asked me? "Are you an actor?" That was a big insult no! Somebody in the organizing committee could have introduced us. Apart from that, I had been made to sit in between the two of them.

*  Will he say something like that if you shook hands saying, "Anil Kapoor .... hello! Ranjan?
   Yes .... I sat there thinking that the whole world knows me. As soon as that question was asked I came to realise that only people in Sri Lanka know me .. that not even a dog in India knew who I was. I was shaken and I mentally collapsed. Just got sick!

*  So Ranjan ... how were you introduced to them?
   I said that Vijaya Kumaratunga is my uncle.... that he's the supreme star in the Sri Lankan cinema still. My bad luck is .... they didn't know Vijaya. Then I said that Uncle Vijaya got married to the former President, Chandrika. Then only they knew.

* Did you come back to normal after you introduced yourself as to who you are?
  No.... no. Then Malini came on stage. Anil again started asking, "Who's that who's wearing that blue-coloured sari?" I told that she is the Queen of our cinema. Then pointing at Pooja Umashankar, Bipasha is asking 'Who's that girl?" In that instance of course I felt a tremendous happiness. I said that she came from their country. But they didn't know Pooja.

* Then ... after that .... what else did they say?
  Then again Anil Kapoor is asking, pointing at Ravindra Aiyya,"Who is that?" So I said that he studied in the same school and same class with my uncle and that he is one of the most popular film stars .... that he was born in 1945. "Oh god .... can't even believe! Is he 70 years old? I can't even believe. Bipasha ... that gentleman is 70 years old. Look .... still handsome no?" was what he said. When they saw Ravi Aiyya .... they were so surprised.

* Did you feel any inferiority near Sunil Shetty, Anil Kapoor and Vivek?
  Aney no.... they are so simple. I didn't notice any 'big headedness' in them.

* Bipasha is a sex symbol in India. What did you feel when seated close to her?
  Bipasha is beautiful. Really pretty. In the same way she is passionate. But I think that our new girls are a little passionate like Bipasha.

* Not that.... what is that talk about looking at Bipasha's legs?
  Aney no .... I asked, "Why don't you dance today?" She showed me her leg and said that the leg is damaged; so....to excuse her. It was Bipasha who showed me her leg.
