Classroom joke ends with big trouble at Nittambuwa

An incident is reported from Ranpokunagama where a student suffered serious injury with an iron rod piercing his buttocks as a result of a prank played on him in the class.
This accident happened when a female student in the A/L class of Ranpokunagama Maha Vidyalaya in Nittambuwa had thought of playing a joke on a male student in the same class and had held an iron rod without his notice at a moment he had stood up; on which occasion he happened to sit down which resulted in the accident with the iron rod going through his buttocks. The student who then collapsed bleeding was admitted to hospital with the aid of two male teachers with the iron rod intact. It had been removed at Wathupitiwala Hospital after a minor surgery.

The doctors had commended this act of bringing the student to hospital in that state. The doctors also mentioned that the iron rod had pierced the buttocks close to his anus about 6 inches deep.

It was Pavindu Madhusara,an 18 year old student who was studying at Ranpokunagama Maha Vidyalaya who was the victim in this instance. It is learned that he was also a child of a lady teacher in the school.

It is understood that the condition of this student who is under treatment in Ward 7 in the hospital is out of danger.
