Two sisters' brothel & One brother's robbery

 

News has been received of a strange type of brothel run by an elder sister and a younger sister in Medawachchiya.

Though incidents of customers who frequent this spot have reported to have been robbed of their valuables in an organized manner; because the robberies take place in an illegal spot, the victims have refrained from complaining to the police because of shame. But now it is reported that the gang of robbers had been directed by the younger brother of the two elder sisters.


All this came to light when officers of the Crime Detection Unit of Medawachchiya had taken this youth (who happens to be a minor) into custody.

It is learnt that this brothel is in operation by the two sisters of Gravel Kanda belonging to Medawachchiya police area.

It has now been understood that 5 young men, together with this minor had been involved in robbing valuable jewellery and other articles belonging to individuals who come there to associate them.

Police say that information is directly supplied about rich customers who patronise these 2 young girls engaging in prostitution while encouraging the gang of robbers to deal in robbery.

Two young men living in Nochchiyagama aged 26 and 32 years had come to associate the two girls on the night of 24th and one of them had been robbed of a gold chain worn round the neck worth about 1 lakh plus Rs. 6,000 which was in his possession after which they had fled the spot.

This youth who had come with the intention of associating the girls was the robbed party and the victim had made a complaint to the police about the incident. The Crime Detection Unit who promptly got into action had arrested the 14 year old boy (the brother of the two girls) and after interrogation had handed over the necklace and the money of Rs. 6,000.

By now the 17 and 21 year old sisters who have been engaging in their business of prostitution has fled the area and the police say that other members of the robbery gang too have fled from the area and are hiding. But Medawachchiya police also say that it is not a difficult task to apprehend them.

Police revealed that even prior to this incident an army soldier who came to associate these two girls had been robbed of a gold chain valuing about 2 lakhs of rupees by the same gang who had got together with the 2 sisters.

Police further say that this gang of suspects are continuously engaging in anti-social activities and have been produced in courts on a number of instances.
