Dishni ties the knot with her cousin (photos)

She has become one of the most talked-about figures on social media, with beautiful scenes unfolding in traditional wedding attire adorned in rose and gold, set against outdoor gardens and the Bolgoda Lake backdrop. This is as popular actress and dancer Dishni Rajapaksha begins a new chapter in her life.

It is reported that she has entered into married life with Rajith, the son of her father's elder sister.

The precursors to this wedding were also seen last July. At that time, information about a photoshoot conducted by Dishni at Cinnamon Life was shared online. A destination-wedding style for a new couple was unveiled.

Dishni (Umaryo or Umangi) Rajapaksha is not merely a young woman limited to beauty and acting. Born around 1999 in Kurunegala and educated at Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, she also served as the captain of the school's netball team. A prominent figure in drama and dance groups, Dishni managed to secure first place in All-Island Ballet Dance competitions for five consecutive years.

Her parents, Gamini and Senani Rajapaksha, initially preferred to see her focus on education rather than modeling or acting. Dishni, who has two sisters named Yashodhara and Sarala, balanced both her parents' expectations and her own artistic dreams. Accordingly, it is also mentioned that she completed a Master's degree in Child Psychology and Education in Australia.

Having won the Miss Sri Lanka crown in 2019 and the Miss Queen of International Tourism crown in 2020, she gained wider popularity in the arts field through Hiru Mega Stars Season 3, which aired around 2021-22. Works such as Eka Dawasaka Api (2018), Soosti (2020), Aale Corona (2021), Peacock Lament (2022) where she played Renu, and Seeru Wen (2024), as well as creations related to the Ravana teledrama, are significant milestones in her acting career.

With the confirmation of her current real wedding ceremony, a rumor that spread during 2021-22 has naturally been put to rest. After the Mega Stars stage, a collection of wedding photos featuring Dishni with renowned actor and singer Suriya Dayaruwan (Suriyaloaka) through works like Kala, Happy Birthday, and Divithura, was publicized by YouTube channels as a secret marriage. Additionally, rumors also spread about her alleged relationship with famous actor Channa Perera. 

However, the discussions that caused a great stir in the media did not go far. It has been reported that she ended her 6-year relationship with Rajith, the son of her father's elder sister, in this marriage, and on the wedding day, she stated that Rajith calls her 'Sudu Ammi' (White Mother/Auntie) and she calls Rajith 'Appachchi' (Father/Uncle).
Dishni did not forget to give her pet puppy a special place on the wedding day.
