Saranga speaks about Umali ...
one week before wedding
GossipLanka announced that Saranga Disasekera's and Umali Tillekeratna's wedding was scheduled to take place next 14th of this month. While they are getting ready for their wedding, they would in the meantime launch a music video titled 'Husma Simbinnam' which is supposed to unfold their love story. How he initially met his lover Umali before has been revealed by him in the following manner:
* You don't even talk much about your lover either.
Yes ... that's a decision that both of us took collectively. We both decided that we are not going to tell each other's names.
* But then everybody knows that your lover is Umali.
Yes ... from the way we behave and the way we talk; those who watch us have a reason to think so ... then those who saw us came to a conclusion that we were lovers. There's a nice beauty in it.
* How did you meet Umali?
It was at Sanath Abeysekera's 'Sandawatha Seya' teledrama that both of us first met each other. She and I had acted in it as lovers. I had not met her before that. But when working with her for sometime, I began to develop feelings for her .. which I never experienced before. I was taken up by her behaviour also. As time passed by ... we became lovers without any of us even sensing it. This affair is now about 7 years.
* What is the speciality that you see in Umali?
She is bright ... just as much as acting, dancing, singing .... she has made herself competent in various other aspects. To a great degree she has understood me ... but I still don't know whether it's a feeling of love that I have for her. Both of us have a strong bond between each other. Within the framework of that bond ... there is a charming damsel. That charming factor is something special to me.
* Didn't you sing a duet with Umali?
We did a song and the title of that was 'Husma Simbinnam pem pawanelle .... adarayata langwela'. It was written by Sachitha Udayanga; music by Sanjula Himala .... and it's our love story that is depicted by the song.
* How were you able to keep this affair going without a break?
It was actually the understanding. She knows that my acting is only in front of the camera ... I also think the same way about her.
* After marriage ... will acting become a limited thing?
Not at all. Both of us will maintain this freedom that we now have.
* In recent times, influences from directors have begun to increase. Aren't you afraid of sending Umali to act under such circumstances?
When somebody calls her for some work ... I have observed how she deals with that person from that point onwards. She talks in such a manner that no room is left for any negative proposal. On the other hand .... she selects the role after considering it well. I have great faith in her. Not only in this field .... this problem is seen in other fields also. There's such influence from male teachers to female teachers ... from doctors to nurses ... but those are not leaked out. People are keeping their eyes open to see what is happening inside the field of Arts ... as if these things happen only here. It'snot like that .... there's influence on women-folk in every field.
* Umali is presently studying in Japan ... after marriage?
That's the point .... she'll pursue her studies for sometime. After our marriage ... we are thinking of staying here as well as there.
* How many times have you and Umali had tiffs with each other?
It's difficult to say how many times ... we have had misunderstandings a countless number of times.
