Nine months old infant's throat slit by father

Ganja addict who killed 9 months old infant ... 
and threw body into a teak forest
An unfortunate incident where a father had slit the throat of his 9 month old daughter is reported from Middeniya, Walasmulla, Matara.

This father, it is alleged, had left his wife and infant for some months and after coming into an agreement of separation, the mother of daughter Dinesha had lodged an entry against him at the police station.

In the meantime, he had kept coming home on the pretext of seeing the daughter from time to time. The man who had come in this manner had taken the infant away without anybody's notice on the 16th of this month.

Later, the mother of this person had given a phone call to him asking him to bring and hand over the infant. At that point he had said that if the child is to be handed over, to come to the teak forest in Middeniya area. According to his instructions a relative brother of the infant's mother had gone to the teak forest this morning (Jan 17) only to find the body of the 9 month old infant daughter brutally murdered in the forest with her neck cut with a sharp instrument.

The police then began a special investigation on the crime to find the suspect father of the victim; but by then he had fled from the area. 

It was reported that the said criminal Chatura had for sometime been addicted to marijuana and arrak and that Dinesha's parents who were abroad had been remitting a sum of Rs.1 lakh monthly for household expenses to Dinesha the 20 year old wife and Chatura the 23 year old killer. Chatura had however been squandering this money,spending it on drugs and intoxicants.

The reason for the murder of the infant has still not been revealed and the police are on the search for Chatura the killer.
