Albino turtle found in Ambalangoda

A fresh hulabaloo .... because of  new albino turtle emerging from Ambalangoda

Police who received a complaint that an albino turtle similar to the one that went missing from a turtle hatchery centre in Kosgoda on December 16th is in a house in Ambalangoda, began investigations on the complaint.

It was found that the resident of that house was the daughter of the said Kosgoda Hatchery owner
Chandrasiri Abrew himself. As such the police were suspicious whether Mr. Abrew had cooked up a different story after having given the albino turtle to his daughter. Presently, Mr. Abrew is in hospital for health reasons. Under the above conditions, the police who were involved in the investigations took steps to summon singer Amal Perera who was under suspicion regarding this turtle theft and he was asked to verify whether it was the same turtle that he wanted to buy. On inspection he confirmed that this turtle was the same turtle that he wanted to buy.

Whatever it is, Mr. Abrew's daughter refutes this statement saying that this turtle in her possession was with her for quite a period. Since the weight of the turtle that had disappeared and the corresponding weight of the turtle in her possession is contradictory, it has still not been possible to ascertain with certainty from the investigations as to whether it is the very same animal.

The team of investigators who searched the house of Mr. Abrew's daughter say that this turtle weighed 5 1/2 kilos. However, the complaint recorded over the missing turtle says that it weighs 9 1/2 kilos. Information has also been received that sea water is transported to the residence of this owner thrice a day.

As it was earlier alleged by the complainant to the police that popular singer Amal Perera had come to buy the missing turtle, the police decided to inquire from him about the turtle found today (Jan 15).

Amal Perera who visited the house concerned had confirmed that it is the very same turtle that he had wanted to buy.

The police by now is conducting investigations in order to arrive at the conclusion as to whether the complainant Chandrasiri Abrew had given false information or if the Ambalangoda complainant is making a false complaint or if Abrew's daughter happens to tell the truth or not.
