Popular actress Nilmini Tennakoon who gave an interview to a weekend newspaper sometime ago said that just as much as Malini was the queen of the silver screen, she herself is the actress queen of the mini-screen and that she is preparing to enter into politics in the future.

Nilmini who was among artistes who contributed towards bringing the present government into power is presently running a salon in Nugegoda area and also contributes to a rupavahini programme discussing women's and children's problems. Though she admitted that she would be joining politics, she did not mention at which election. Her ideas expressed in this manner is as follows:

*For sometime Nilmini ... you were thinking that you were the queen of the mini-cinema.
Not for sometime ... even today sometimes when I attend certain functions there are moments when I feel that way. Just as much as Malini Fonseka is introduced as the queen among actresses of the Sinhala cinema, the actress queen of the mini-screen is introduced as Nilmini Tennakoon. Even upto now ... I am the actress who won the Most Popular Actress of the mini-cinema.       

*If you get an opportunity, will you be coming into politics?   
Even before this I got such callings. But at that time, because of my daughter I couldn't take a decision. But then when I see the harm done continuously to women and children, I feel that I shouldn't be silent any further on this matter. I have a belief that I can voice my opinion in that respect. Yes ... if I get a chance, I am prepared to get on the political stage to voice my opinion on behalf of women.
