Chintaka Vasantha Kumara (36) alias Ketayam Chintaka who murdered a police constable and his wife, attacking with clubs and shooting them in Kamburupitiya, Ullala, Masmulla area was laid to rest in Matara public cemetery on Wednesday 4th after which his mother told the media that her house was burnt down and as a result she has no place to go.

"In the past ... whatever robbery, thuggery, looting or something to do with drugs, it was my son who was suspected. I know very well that he was not responsible for any of those acts. But what happened was that he was taken away once and again. He was put in the cell, punished and then sent back. I told my son once that this can't be done ... you tell the police to shoot and kill you ... without putting you into difficulties like this. He had told this to a high-ranking officer.Under this situation ... I of course don't know as to what the reason for this is.

Now we have only this dress left for us. There's nothing left in the house either ... everything has been set on fire and destroyed. Those in authority were just looking on at this ... but did not take any step to stop his destruction. That's why all these things went this far. No place to stay ... nothing to eat ... none of these ... but anyhow we'll go somewhere", Chintaka's mother said.

Chintaka's sister said with tears in her eyes ... "Our house has been set fire to ... what has been left for us is only what we're wearing. I built this house by taking a loan from the bank. After his death, it was sen that villagers of of Masmulla and those around had lit firecrackers and expressed their joy by preparing milk-rice.After being shot dead, he area is gradually moving into a peaceful atmosphere.
