Dhananjaya speaks about his marriage

Popular actor Dhananjaya got married all of a sudden recently.  It was to his 8 year old lover Sashini. Recently he contacted GossipLanka to tell us how his romance which had its ups and downs ultimately ended up in marriage  and at a time there was a separation in the affair there was an incident which occured with Udayanthi hen they were inside a room trying to perform a certain scene inside a walauwwa and various other incidents.

Dhananjaya had met Sashini as a school romance on the knowledge of family friends. She is an air hostess of a foreign airline and presently is resident abroad. Dhananjaya is preparing to go to the country where Sashini is, after marriage, leaving aside acting. All this he revealed to us in the following manner. *What Dhananjaya is your age now?
  My age is what is known and felt by the audience.

*Now you engage in professional acting?
  For a total period of 11 years I lived only by acting. I don't have shops ... not sold clothes ... what I did was acting only. Therefore I am distinctly an actor.

*Aren't you a well-known cupid in your field?
  We all have features of cupid ... otherwise how can we act?

*There's a talk that you are greedy for women ... that you can't be taken into a house.
  Don't know who made this story. I have only professional dealings with everybody. There may be some who say such things because of sex jealousy. I have lots of friends. I go to all their houses. I am a normal man. I like those who like me. We are human beings no ... but just because I go into a house, nothing untoward takes place. Ha .... ha ... I wish that it's good if such a thing happens ... ha..ha.

*You are supposed to be having cupid characteristics with actresses also.
  To whom could I get closer other than actresses? When you act, you can't love at a distance no ....

*Even in everyday life you are supposed to be very close to them.
  Yes ... true ... I am close ... but I don't go beyond that. Those stories have been made maybe because of the true nature of my acting. I love the actresses so strongly because I want to do justice to the director and the scriptwriter.

*There was an involvement with Udayanthi Kulatunga in the past ... did you?
  Ha ... ha... Udayanthi is one of the best friends I have met. Not only Udayanthi, even Nadeesha, Anjula, Muthu, Manjula are all good friends of mine during my time. Udayanthi came a little later ... but she was my lover in dramas even from the start. She's a good friend of mine. When people seethe two of us and the way we talk... anybody can understand that. When someone can't bear to see it, they maybe talking such stories. I find her as a good actress with whom I find no difficulty in acting.

*Didn't you have a love affair with Udayanthi?
  Apo . no ... we're good friends no. When someone see us, they can understand. ... but when we go to play a role ... very serious. Udayanthi has got scolded by me so many times ... she also has scolded me. We worked together for a long time. Some people may have thought of a love-connection because of that.

*Then what about the case that happened inside a walauwwa?
  Yes ... that was a story that went over the internet. But the site that displayed it .. 4 days after it was shown on the web ... they asked pardon from me ... saying that it was a wrong story. That story came up during the Mila drama. That was a drama that a lot of people watched. Those who watched it know about the acting that we had to do as Mila and Abhitha. In this we go in two directions and finally happen to come across each other. Mila and Abhitha meet each other in the last scene in the 100th part of the story which ends there. Even from that anybody would understand that the shooting done inside a walauwwa was only a short part.

*That means these are all created stories?
  Why are you asking like that. Actually ... I have had no proper romance as such. What I tried to build up was a genuine romance Today ... while loving your wife ... lover; to love another has become a small trend in our culture.But as I feel ... I have had no such thing.

*But these days what we come to hear is exactly about these things, isn't it?
  That of course is each person's personal affair. I have no moral right to talk about it. An actor or actress becomes important only within the framework of the character portrayed.

*Who is your lover?  Tell us how you met her.
  She's Sashini Ferdinando. It's news to the media. But about 4 years ago, GossipLanka had published some photos which showed both of us ... giving the impression that she is my lover. My affair is secure and it is with her  only that I make arrangements to marry.

It's a charming story. She knew me even before I became an actor. It was at the time she was schooling at Sirimavo Balika. That was the permanent love affair I had ... the most charming person. On and off we were separated. That sentiment I received ... I still feel. Because of that I decided to tell the media about it. So, now I am engaged to her.

She's a senior air hostess with a foreign airline. She's now abroad. We came to know each other as family friends. Of course we had a small separation-period between us ... but she never left me.  She's someone who has seen the world ... someone who has seen the world ... someone who has a wide vision and has a broad understanding. Ha ... ha ... in the near future you can ask more questions from her more than you ask me.

*That means ... even before you met tele-actress you had this love affair?
  Yes ... yes ... a young girl will not stop hopes keeps hopes for a number of years. When I was lost in life ... when I felt sad ... I thought, if only this person was in my life .... if I get her .... it would be so good. In the end .... because of the mediation of people at home .... I thought she should be brought to the stage.

*Even at the time you had the affair, you told the newspaper that there was no such thing.
  That's what I told you. About separations here and there. Very unluckily whenever the newspaper contacted me ... she was separated from me.

*You are someone who comes from a family involved in the Arts. Why were your thought drawn towards her ... who was not connected to the Arts?
  Truly speaking, she's a better artiste than me. She can sing well .... can dance .... someone who has a fine personality. So, to say that she is not an artiste is incorrect.

*You say that you are an artiste. Are your future earnings from the Field of Art enough after marriage to live in Sri Lanka today?
  These financial problems ... not only for me ... everybody has ... beginning from the gramseller upwards to a man on top. I believe that in future, there could be a system which would make it possible to live in Sri Lanka. If we lived like this for 10 or 11 years with difficulty ... for the future too there won't be a problem.

*Don't you like to come into politics like your brother (Madhumadhawa)?
  Everybody has politics. If someday I feel that must put forward my opinion ... that day I may do so. If not ... I will remain in my opinion .... not go to politics.

*Now when is your wedding celebrations going to take place?
 I haven't taken a final decision on that matter still. As soon as I am able to give information on that, I will say so.

*What are your plans after marriage? Is it that you are trying to make the country?
  I can't still think about that ... even how the marriage will be ... I am waiting such time that I get it. I like to take decisions that go beyond it then and there. That'll be decided on the way we each other feel after marriage. Sometimes I'll be here or I may go t the country where she is ....

*Going abroad .... does that mean you'll be giving up acting?
  This is something that is being asked from me everywhere. But if the audience thinks, 'Ane ... this actor should be seen every day ... he should be in Sri Lanka .... then at that point I may take a reasonable decision.
