Miller forces himself and aims questions at President
Channel 4 media has played 'games' in various places
It was recently that representatives of the British Channel 4 arrived in Sri Lanka to report on the CHOGM proceedings after having obtained their visas to enter the country. They have even attended the business conference which was held under the leadership of the Hon. President at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel yesterday (12). When the President was travelling along the corridor, Jonathan Miller barged in and started asking questions from the President.
What he had asked was about the violation of Human Rights in Sri Lanka. It was reported that the President was taken by surprise at an unanticipated moment and responded to the person who aggressively confronted him.
The President had said that Sri Lanka is already and accurately conducting an impartial inquiry in relation to Human Rights. Mr. Miller had then quipped, How did that happen ...how did this happen?" The President had responded saying, "Now you are in Sri Lanka ... and you have the liberty to go anywhere in Sri Lanka now ...go and see well ... the things we have done and then you will understand the truth".
In the process, Channel 4 mediaman Macrae had been to the media briefing held by Mangala, Wickramabahu and others at Sirikotha yesterday. At the meeting, he had questioned about the situation of the investigations conducted in relation to Human Rights in Sri Lanka. The local mediamen who were present there had raised various questions from the Channel 4 mediaman and the latter had responded saying that he was prepared to investigate about war crimes supposed to have been committed by the Sri Lankan government, but even by the LTTE.
When these mediamen entered the the Sri Lankan airport recently, there were protests launched against them and the protest happened to be from an organisation unheard of. Because of the protest, it is reported that they had been stranded at the airport for over two and a half hours at the Katunayaka airport without being able to enter the country.
It was also understood that these mediamen had taken steps to video all these happenings.
