Dinesh Chandimal decides not to go to IPL
The 20-20 Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal who was chosen for the IPL competition scheduled to commence in India in a few days has rejected the offer and had decided not to go to India.
Though the opportunity of going for the IPL was not an opportunity that arose at the auction,India had invited him to replace Clarke of Warriors team of Poona or Peterson of Daredevils who had sustained injuries.
As a result of influences of Tamil Nadu, South India, Akila and Nuwan are not to participate in the IPL and whether the other 11 players would participate in the IPL is still in suspense because of Sri Lanka being ignored.
No final decision has still been presented to the Ministry of Sports.
Dinesh Chandimal who is an Old Anandian has acted on the opinion of Arjuna Ranatunga who was a captain of the same College and therefore has declined the IPL offer.
He should on this occasion value that the honour given him to him by the country is greater than the lakhs of dollars he receives personally.
