Chinese working at Mattala tries to export corals
A quantity of corals beyond value was prepared for export was nabbed by Customs at Katunayaka Airport.
This attempt for export in person was done by 3 Chinese nationals employed at the Mattala Airport. It is assumed that this attempt to transport them from Sri Lanka may have been done on the hypothesis that since they were attached to an affiliated airline service it may arouse no suspicion, according to reports.
While no formal action on the part of the police or judiciary had been taken in respect of this arrest, the Customs has decided to hand over the corals to the National Museum and it is reported that the three Chinese had been severely warned and released.
