‘The media had related some wrong facts about the ‘Pasikuda’ incident’
‘My son had never disclosed that his father is to become the prime Minister’
‘The Premiership that I was to get I sacrificed and gave it to Mahinda’

After the Pasikuda beach incident Minister Maithripala Sirisena kept silent. However yesterday he called for a media conference which was held at his home. Although he did not speak much he was furious about a media statement that was reported saying on that evening on Sunday amidst the clash Daham, his son had uttered that his father is tipped to be the next Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. This was a statement that his son had not made but published in some media incorrectly in that manner.
He emphasised that certain media make distorted news and information harmful to the government.
He emphasised in this manner........
“The statement made by his son had disclosed during the course of the clash  saying that my father is tipped to be the next Prime Minister. I do not believe and endorse that he had said so during the assault. In the year 2004, Chandrika Kumaratunga showed me a letter sent by the JVP requesting to appoint Lakhsman Kadiragamar as the Prime Minister. If that happened it was predicted that there might me some communal conflicts, it was discussed Then when the name Anura Bandaranaike came up. If so it would be a problem to you , then You may appoint me I disclosed. However at that time I declined the offer and proposed the Prime Minister’s post is given to Mahinda Rajapaksa. In that manner i sacrificed a lot. I do not work to get positions.
If i was greedy for that position I would have accepted the post of Prime Minister then. But by thinking of the country I scarified my offer and recommended Mahinda Rajapaksa to be the Prime Minister. I display a method that contains firm principles and work within such a frame. I was there yesterday, I will be there today and I will be there in the future too.
The Kalkuda incident is no longer a secret. But incidents of this nature are not conducive to the government and the President. But after this incident I feel that there is some threat to my life. I feel it is in danger. It is not only my son, I feel all as my children. I went to see Asela while in hospital and gave advice to the hospital authorities to give him all necessary treatment he needs.
I need not take revenge from anybody. To date I have not removed others clothes. I live and work according to the Buddhist principle ’Nahi Verana Verani’.....”
